Why Choose Merino Wool?
A1.Moisture Wicking
Merino wool boasts exceptional moisture-wicking properties, swiftly absorbing sweat from the body’s surface and expelling it. This aids in preventing discomfort and the development of odors resulting from excessive perspiration, ensuring you stay dry and comfortable during physical activities.
A2.Comfort
Merino wool is renowned for being soft, fine, and gentle on the skin, rendering it highly comfortable to wear. It won’t induce skin itching or discomfort, making it ideal for extended periods of wear.
A3.Anti-Odor
Thanks to its inherent odor-controlling properties, Merino wool proves an excellent choice for activities involving profuse sweating. This quality also ensures your T-shirt remains fresh and clean, reducing the need for frequent washing.
A4.Temperature Regulation
Merino wool’s natural insulating properties efficiently regulate body temperature. It keeps you warm in cold conditions and cool in hot weather, making it suitable for year-round wear.
A5.Versatility
Merino wool T-shirts are versatile and adaptable, suitable for a wide range of activities, from casual wear to outdoor sports, hiking, and travel. You can easily dress them up or down according to your requirements.
A6.Natural Materials
Merino wool is a renewable and biodegradable resource, making it a more sustainable choice compared to synthetic materials. It’s environmentally friendly and contributes to reducing our dependence on synthetic materials.

First, and foremost, I’ll start at the end and point out this shirt was not only the lower-priced of the two, the other shirt’s price skyrocketed from $47 at the time of the purchase to now (only a month later) $74 while (at the time of this review) this Merino Protect shirt is still available at $38 and is a best deal in my humble opinion. And that leads to point number 2:
Yes, cotton and polyester t-shirts are easily available at half the price or less. However, I could never have worn a cotton or polyester t-shirt after walking around in Saudi Arabian afternoon sun without an odorous finish. Amazingly, this wasn’t this case for either of these two wool shirts purchased and tested on this wedding trip. In fact, that afternoon walk was the day after having worn this shirt as my base layer during the entire 20 travel hours of driving, flight, and layover time. Even my wife exclaimed surprise at how the shirt remained nearly odorless at the end of the second day in the Saudi sun.
Benefit #3 is how well this shirt keeps its shape. After hand washing both and placing both on hangers to dry, the other higher-priced shirt ended up with a stretched shoulder on one side. This Merino Protect held up just fine. Lesson learned, BTW, as I now lay these flat to dry (hangers not recommended).
My only complaint has much to do with why my wife calls me “dangerous” when eating. Something liquidy landed on this shirt (gray color) and though I initially drenched the dime-sized spot with water and then a couple of hours later hand washed the shirt with extra emphasis on the stain spot, an echo of the spot remains. So what did I do as a result? I just placed two more of these shirts on my wish list promising my wife never to eat while wearing them without also wearing a bib.
Wool is now my hot weather solution from now on. Who would have thunk it?
Update after a month long trip in Europe and about 6 washes: I brought this shirt along with a few other shirts on a trip through Europe. I have to say the shirt held up really well. It was cool when I needed it to be and didn’t really smell even after wearing it a few times without washing. I noticed some pilling on the shirt, but it isn’t noticeable enough to change my rating.
The material definitely is wool, and if you’ve worn merino before, you’d notice that right away and not mistake it for any other material. The collar is not overly loose like many cheap t-shirts, and the stitching appears well made. I am 6’1” and was concerned with some of the reviews that noted it was short. I ordered x-large and it fits me well as I am about 195 lbs. If you are bigger, you might be out of luck. For me, before it was washed, it hung well below my belt, and almost to my crotch, plenty long for me. However, the sleeves seemed fairly short, but that is the style with most t-shirts, and I just like them long like the old traditional t-shirts.
I have read several reviewers state that they thought this material was thin, and even cheap. To me it seems that these might be around 160-170 gm of merino wool, fairly standard for light to mid weight wool t-shirts. They are definitely not thin! Compared to cotton for sure, but if you’ve never worn merino wool as an all around t-shirt, you might not know that this thickness and feel is typical of all merino wool t-shirts.
I bought three black and one camo, and I am surprised and very pleased with the quality, and plan to buy several more for this price! I bought a lot of Merino.tech t-shirts when they first came out because they were price below everyone else because they were new. Now they are up there in price with all the other merino wool t-shirts, and maybe that’s why these are so very reasonably priced for a very good quality merino wool t-shirt. I’d say, get these at this price while you can.
